Megan Houck, Law Clerk
Megan Houck began working with Attorneys Ryan Schmalzle and Christin Georgelas as a Law Clerk in 2016. She took a three-year leave of absence in May 2018 when her husband, who works for the US State Department, was posted at the US Embassy in Bosnia. She retuned to Virginia in May 2021 and resumed her position as a Law Clerk with the firm.
Megan is currently attending law school at George Mason University, Antonin Scalia Law School as an evening student, while working full-time at SG Law, PLC. She will complete her studies and graduate in May 2025.
Megan’s husband was active-duty military and was deployed three times. He is currently working for the US State Department in the Foreign Service (Diplomatic Security). Her husband’s service in the military as well as the State Department has allowed Megan to gain a unique and personal perspective of the lifestyle of those who are serving, or have served the country.
During her three years living in Bosnia, Megan served on the School Board of an International School in Sarajevo, Bosnia.
Megan also served as a Guardian Ad Litem for two years in Juvenile Court in Cumberland County, North Carolina.
Megan lives in Loudoun County, Virginia with her husband and four children. Her hobbies include baking, reading, and visiting as many countries as she can.

Emily Anderson, Paralegal
Emily Anderson joined SG Law, PLC as a paralegal in January 2025. Before joining the firm, she worked as a case manager at a personal injury firm specializing in motor vehicle collisions for a year and a half. During that time, Emily discovered her passion for guiding clients through complex legal matters, offering support and clarity when they needed it most. Inspired by her own personal experiences, including navigating a divorce, she felt a strong calling to transition into family law, where she could help clients facing some of life’s most challenging situations.
Emily takes pride in being a steady, compassionate presence for clients, ensuring they feel heard and understood throughout the legal process.
Originally from Virginia, Emily currently resides in Loudoun County with her daughter, boyfriend, two cats, and a pug. A self-proclaimed “cat person,” she enjoys spending her free time with her family, reading, and watching romantic comedies.
Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Sociology, from Southern New Hampshire University, all while balancing the responsibilities of being a stay-at-home mom.

Karen Rybicki, Administrative Assistant/Receptionist
Karen Rybicki joined the firm in June 2022. She serves as an Administrative Assistant/Receptionist and is typically the first point of contact for potential clients and visitors to the office. Most of her working life has been spent in property management and law firms in Northern Virginia. Karen enjoys working with people and getting to know our clients.
Karen is a mother, grandmother, and a lifelong resident of Northern Virginia. She attended W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax County in Virginia, and graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with a Certificate in Mechanical Drafting.
Karen is also a member of the Leesburg Chapter of Kiwanis International since 2020 and President-elect for 2023-24.
